#8733 Ideas in Art
Art education enhances student achievement and provides students with an avenue for expression and connections with other academic areas. Teachers can help students appreciate the visual arts by encouraging participants to make connections between the visual arts and other disciplines, thus providing a rich dialogue between subject areas. It is vital that teachers are able to identify the creative thought process used to formulate new ideas and themes in art creation. This identification process allows students to make relevant connections and employ higher level thinking skills to improve student learning. Though the course is intended for art educators, it would be highly beneficial to any teacher looking for ways to include creativity and cultural elements in their curriculum. Two grad credits through Aurora University at an additional cost of $150 is also available with payment due the first day of class.

# 8713 Reaching Across the Curriculum
Visual learners are in every classroom, not just the art room. No longer is the art teacher the only person to include visual references, the science teacher the only person to include experimentation and the history teacher the only person to incorporate major events in history. Teachers and districts need to plan accordingly for this shift in instruction. While in this course, teachers from all disciplines will work to better understand the learning styles and learn strategies to incorporate types of learners in instruction. One grad credit is available through Aurora University, at an additional cost of $100 due the first day of class.
