Early Childhood Programs
Providing support and information
on child development to the families of Rock
Island County
Personal Home Visits
Using the Parents As Teachers curriculum,
certified parent educators provide information
on child development, suggest and model age
appropriate activities, and address parenting
concerns.
Parent & Child
Activities
Our programs provide many opportunities for
families to attend activities and events in
the community. These events include early
literacy activities, toddler play groups,
parent and child interaction activities, and
family meetings.
Developmental
Screening
Regular screening allows for early identification
of developmental concerns, and also assists
families in learning what to expect from their
child’s development and what activities
will encourage their child’s further
development. Screenings are held monthly (from
September-June) for children ages four months
to five years old.
LENDING LIBRARY
Come enjoy our selection of toys, books, puzzles,
and games with your infant, toddler, or preschooler!
Stay and play, or borrow your child’s
favorite books and toys. Parenting resources
are also available for checkout. Lending Library
hours are 8:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m., Monday
through Friday.
PRE-K CLASSROOMS
Since 2003, the Regional Office of Education
has collaborated with area childcare centers
and the Early Childhood Coalition to provide
pre-kindergarten support services in seven
childcare center classrooms within the community.
The classrooms are supported by grant fund
allocations from the Illinois State Board
of Education. Teachers certified in early
childhood education partner with staff to
provide educational programming based on the
Illinois Early Learning Standards and Creative
Curriculum for children ages 3-5 years.
