Assistant Regional Superintendent Jodie Atteberry

The annual Rock Island County CONTIG Contest will be held at Wilson Middle School in Moline on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, @ 1:30 P.M., in the cafeteria. Contestants should arrive by 1:15pm. You may select one fourth-grader, one fifth-grader and one sixth-grader to participate from each of your buildings. A teacher should accompany these students, if a teacher is able to attend he/she may be asked to serve as a judge. If a teacher is unable to attend the contest with his/her students, we would like for a parent to accompany them. The teacher/parent could also be asked to serve as a judge.

We will have three 15 minute matches. Each participant’s score from each match will be added together to determine a first and second place winner for each grade level. In the event of a tie, the highest individual score in any of the rounds will be the winner.

We ask the schools that have the traveling trophies from last year to please bring them to this year’s contest or return them to our office. It would also be helpful if teachers/parents could bring stop-watches/timing devices/cell phones with them to help time the games.

In order for myself to have some idea of how many participants there will be, please fill out the attached School Winner Report Form and e-mail/fax /mail it back to me by the end of the day on Thursday, February 16, 2017. You are responsible for informing parents of the time and place for this event. I look forward to hearing from you!
