#11549 Making Sense of the Standards/Making Art with 3D and STEM Content

In this workshop designed for art educators participants will be looking at how to make sense of the new Illinois Visual Arts Standards using a backwards curriculum design framework. The presentation will focus on the Illinois Visual Arts Standards processes of Creating and Responding by demonstrating how to utilize specific 3D design and STEAM content within the framework. The presenter will walk through the steps of creating standards based curriculum showing participants how to integrate specific content within the framework. Participants will implement the framework by creating a 3D fiber sculpture. They will also have an opportunity to experiment with little Bits electrical connections as it applies to STEAM based art. These experiences will demonstrate the end goals of the backwards design framework.

Our speaker, Joan Mills, has served as the President of the Illinois Arts Education Association. She has worked closely with the State of Illinois and teachers throughout the state. She brings a wealth of information and wonderful, teacher-friendly instructional ideas. Please bring a laptop or other electronic device.
